Handbell ringing is fun and an excellent workout for your brain and coordination.

The Merribells  are a mixed  ability group of bell ringers. Some of whom have been ringing for a long time. Others are relatively new to ringing.

The abilty to read music  and rhythm to some level is essential.

There are two groups. These meet on alternate Thursdays.

RING: beginners /improvers.

PERFORM: those more experienced ringers who want to perform in care homes etc.

New ringers receive a short series of lessons before being integrated in to the main Ring Group.  We support each other in learning to ring.

We play for fun and our own pleasure. When you feel confident with the various techniques you will learn, you may be asked to step up and perform with the performance group. However, not everyone wants to perform and that is fine.

Several of us belong to the Hand Bell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB). We have the opportunity to play at rallies and meet up with groups from further a field. These are always good fun.

Making music in a group of any size is always fun.

Come and join us!
