Swindon U3A provides learning and leisure opportunities in the Swindon area for those who are no longer in full-time employment.

The first British U3A was established in Cambridge in 1982; Swindon U3A was launched in 1987.

Despite the title, most U3As have no formal links with Universities.  The word “University“ is used in its original sense of a group of people coming together to learn for pleasure.  No academic qualifications are necessary to join and none are awarded.

There are now over 700 U3A’s in Britain.  There are also U3A organisations in other countries.  For more information on the British U3A movement click on the "National U3A" button above.

We have over 1000 members and over 80 groups giving a wide variety of both academic and leisure pursuits.  Click on the “Activities” button above to see for yourself what we do.  Click on any of the groups in the activities page to see more details.  There are also a number of general events and talks and these are listed under the "Diary" button in the header.

Click on the "Newsletter" button above to see articles from our Newsletters and general announcements of group vists, conferences, study days and competitions.

The year runs from September to September and a year's subscription allows you to join as many groups as you like.  Some groups may have extra charges for materials, but these are usually small and stated in the individual group details.  See the "Membership" button above for more details on membership and the current subscription rate.

For those running groups (or thinking about it), help can be found under the "Support" button above.

See the "Contact Us" button above for contact details.
